Illinois hires Bret Bielema to coach football

Bret Bielema, who led Wisconsin to three Rose Bowls before a disappointing run at Arkansas, is returning to the Big Ten and his home state to coach Illinois.

The Illini hired Bielema to replace the fired Lovie Smith on Saturday, hoping he can turn around a program with nine consecutive losing seasons.

Illinois said Bielema will receive a six-year contract with an annual salary starting at $4.2 million, and begin work immediately.

He will be a guest of athletic director Josh Whitman’s when Illinois plays at Penn State on Staurday.

A native of western Illinois, the 50-year-old Bielema is 97-58 in 12 years at Wisconsin and Arkansas.

“Illinois and the Big Ten is home for me, and I can’t be any more excited about the opportunity in front of me with the Fighting Illini,” Bielema said in a statement. “We want to build a program that makes Illini Nation proud

Stay-At-Home 2.0 Order Slated To End In New Hampshire Soon

CONCORD, NH — The state of New Hampshire has created a new program to encourage Granite Staters to get a new coronavirus test — and Gov. Chris Sununu is signing up to get one, too.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services’ new “asymptomatic spread assessment program” or ASAP testing initiative has been created to find residents who might be infected with COVID-19 and just do not know it. Sununu said he had not had a test yet either but has not symptoms since the pandemic started in early March. But now, he would be getting one, too.

“We really want to encourage everyone, even if you don’t have no symptoms at all, to get a test,” Sununu said. “There is a lot of asymptomatic spread that has been identified, not just here in New Hampshire, but across the country, and we want everyone to know those doors

“The differences between a vacation home and a full-time home are very personal, so I’d encourage anyone considering one to spend some time thinking about how they live differently while they are there,” says California-based Ward Young architect Aren Saltiel. “You may spend more of your time at

California playgrounds can now open as state reverses COVID-19 rules

California changed its rules overnight Wednesday to allow outdoor playgrounds to stay open in regions under strict stay-home orders, apparently swayed by broad criticism that shutting them down would harm children who have few options to safely romp outside.

On its website, the state said playgrounds could stay open to “facilitate physically distanced personal health and wellness through outdoor exercise.” Ali Bay, a spokesperson for California’s Department of Public Health, said in an email that the change was new as of Wednesday morning and the department is working to share the news more broadly.

Gov. Gavin Newsom has come under heavy criticism for the closure of children’s playgrounds when the administration has repeatedly said being outdoors is safer than indoor operations and there is little evidence of virus spread on play structures.

Playground advocates said children need fresh air and exercise for their emotional and physical health, and
